Wills for Heroes
Invitation to Attorneys and Notaries
The Maryland State Bar Association’s Young Lawyers Section, as an affiliate of the Wills for Heroes Foundation and the Bar Foundation of Harford County, Inc., is proud to co-sponsor the Wills for Heroes program. We are looking for volunteer attorneys and notaries to participate in a Wills for Heroes event to benefit the first responders of Harford County on Saturday, October 8, 2016, at the Bel Air Volunteer Fire Company, Hickory Avenue Station, Bel Air, Maryland, 21014. Volunteers will receive training from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., and then will see clients for one (1) hour appointments starting at 11:00 am and ending at 4:00 pm.
The Wills for Heroes Foundation is a national non-profit organization that provides free wills, advance directives and powers of attorney to first responders, including police officers, firefighters, paramedics, corrections and probation officers. The foundation was started in response to the tragic events of 9/11, and is administered nationwide by local affiliate programs. At day-long Wills for Heroes events, volunteer attorneys meet with first responders and use Hot Docs software donated by LexisNexis to draft the documents, which are then signed, witnessed and notarized at the event. More information on the Wills for Heroes Foundation is available at: www.willsforheroes.org.
You must have your own malpractice insurance to participate; coverage will not be provided for you.
