Law Day 2016! Seeking Volunteers
On Monday, May 2, 2016, Harford County will be participating in Law Day 2016, a statewide event sponsored by the Maryland State Bar Association – Elder Law Section and the Maryland Volunteer Lawyers Service. This event provides an opportunity for any county resident to meet with an attorney at no cost for the purpose of completing an advance medical directive.
The success of this program will depend on us finding attorneys interested in volunteering for this program. And we are hoping that you will be willing to become a volunteer attorney.
Attorney volunteers will be assigned to a senior center located in the county and can take a shift as short as one hour and as long as four hours. Because we are sensitive to your time, we will make every effort to accommodate the location and time slot of your choosing. We will provide all supplies and the forms which attorney volunteers will be assisting individuals to complete—all you need to do is show up! And in abundance of caution, malpractice coverage will be provided for all attorney volunteers through the Maryland Volunteer Lawyers Service.
Both the attendees and attorney volunteers in years past have found this experience very enjoyable and rewarding and we really want to make this year as the springboard for making this program bigger and better each year.
Please consider volunteering for this program. If you are able and willing to volunteer, please contact Raj Goel at rgoel@offitkurman.com or (410) 569-4400. If possible, please respond by April 20, 2016 so that we can ensure we have enough volunteers attorneys available at all of the senior centers in the county.
We look forward to hearing from you and seeing you on Monday, May 2!”
