A Warning from the Attorney Grievance Commission Regarding an Internet Scam:
I wanted to alert you all to an email scan that has been reported by attorneys in several states, including Maryland. Apparently the scam involves an email that falsely notifies you that a disciplinary action has been filed against you. The email invites you to “click here” for more information, at which point a malicious software called “ransomware” is loaded onto your computer and blocks access to the computer until a sum of money is paid. The Attorney Grievance Commission is aware of the scam and assures us that they never initiate the complaint process through an email. As a result, you should delete any email notifying you of an disciplinary complaint, even if it purports to be from the AGC.
We are thrilled to share with you that HCBF is the featured non-profit organization for the Bel Air Downtown Alliance’s First Fridays on August 5th. HCBF will get all tips from the night, which has big fundraising potential! As such, the HCBF needs 16 volunteers to pour beers and handle ticket sales. It’s a great time and will be a wonderful way to talk up and spread the word about the Harford County Bar Foundation and what we do within the community!
Please let us know who and how many will be pouring beers – friends, family, etc. All volunteers/beer pourers need to fill out an Application and Liability form and get them back to HCBF (email, fax, in person) so please contact the HCBF ASAP. Thank you! Sarah Bacon, Program Specialist, HCBF – The Heart of Justice. 17 W. Courtland St, Bel Air, Maryland 21014 (410) 836-0123, (410) 836-0328 (fax) firstname.lastname@example.org.
