A Warning from the Attorney Grievance Commission Regarding an Internet Scam:

 

I wanted to alert you all to an email scan that has been reported by attorneys in several states, including Maryland.  Apparently the scam involves an email that falsely notifies you that a disciplinary action has been filed against you.  The email invites you to “click here” for more information, at which point a malicious software called “ransomware” is loaded onto your computer and blocks access to the computer until a sum of money is paid.  The Attorney Grievance Commission is aware of the scam and assures us that they never initiate the complaint process through an email.  As a result, you should delete any email notifying you of an disciplinary complaint, even if it purports to be from the AGC.
